Zener TVS diode for 22V rail clamping
The 1N6049A/TR is a single-channel bidirectional Zener TVS diode from Microchip Technology, rated for 1500W (1.5kW) peak pulse power per the 10/1000µs waveform. Its 22V reverse standoff voltage and 25.7V minimum breakdown make it a fit for clamping transients on 22V nominal DC rails. The DO-13 through-hole package suits board-level designs where a leaded device is preferred over surface-mount for thermal mass or retrofit compatibility.
Breakdown and clamping window
The breakdown voltage is guaranteed at 25.7V minimum, with the clamping voltage capped at 37.5V at the 40A peak pulse current. This 11.8V window between breakdown and clamp is tight enough to protect downstream silicon rated at 40V or higher without excessive margin loss.
There is no PCN, no last-time-buy window, and no successor to track.
Through-hole DO-13 for retrofit and thermal cycling
The DO-13 package is a hermetic, two-lead, stud-like body common in MIL-spec and high-reliability sockets. The lead spacing and diameter fit standard PCB layouts. No exposed paddle — thermal performance relies on the lead-to-board solder joint area and any attached heatsink clip. The through-hole mount handles repeated thermal cycling better than a comparable SMD package in high-vibration environments.
