It clamps transients on an 8.5V nominal rail to a maximum of 14.5V, with a breakdown voltage minimum of 9.5V. The through-hole DO-13 package handles the thermal pulse without derating up to 175°C junction temperature.
Clamping Voltage and Peak Pulse Current
At the 10/1000 µs test waveform, the 1N6039A clamps a 103A peak pulse current to 14.5V max. That 14.5V ceiling is the number to check against your downstream circuitry's absolute maximum rating — if your ICs can tolerate 15V for a few microseconds, this part provides adequate protection. For a given application, the actual clamping voltage will be lower at lower currents; the datasheet's V-I curve (not reproduced here) shows the typical clamping at intermediate levels.
