180 V zener with tight ±5% tolerance
The 1N6030B is a 180 V Zener diode in the industry-standard DO-35 axial package, rated for 500 mW continuous power dissipation. The ±5% tolerance on the nominal voltage means the actual zener voltage falls between 171 V and 189 V — tight enough to clamp a 180 V rail without overshooting into the next protection tier. Maximum reverse leakage is 100 nA at 137 V, so the diode draws negligible current below the knee — useful when the zener sits across a high-impedance bias line and every nanoamp counts.
Wide temperature range and dynamic impedance
Maximum dynamic impedance (Zzt) is 1.7 kΩ at the test current — a high value that reflects the 180 V breakdown. In a shunt regulator or voltage reference circuit, the load regulation error equals Zzt × the load-current change; keep the load step small or buffer the output. Forward voltage is 1.1 V max at 200 mA — the diode conducts as a standard rectifier in forward bias, which matters if the circuit uses the zener in a bidirectional clamp or as a flyback catch diode.
