160 V regulation in a DO-35 body
The 1N6029C is a 160 V Zener diode from Microchip Technology in the standard DO-35 axial-lead package, rated for 500 mW continuous power dissipation. The ±2% tolerance on the nominal voltage means the actual Zener breakdown sits between 156.8 V and 163.2 V at the specified test current — tight enough for a reference rail in a high-voltage bias supply.
The 160 V nominal Zener voltage suits circuits that need a regulated node above the usual 5 V or 12 V logic rails — think gate-drive bias for a high-side MOSFET or a shunt reference in a 200 V bus monitor. The 500 mW power limit sets the maximum current through the device: at 160 V the steady-state current should not exceed roughly 3.1 mA to stay within the dissipation rating at room temperature, and derating applies as the ambient climbs toward the 175 °C junction limit. Reverse leakage is specified at 100 nA maximum when the applied voltage is 122 V, well below the breakdown knee.
