150 V Zener with tight ±2% tolerance
The 1N6028C is a 150 V Zener diode from Microchip Technology in a DO-35 axial-lead package. The ±2% tolerance holds the regulation voltage tighter than the standard ±5% grade, which matters when the Zener sets the reference for a shunt regulator or clamps a supply rail that feeds sensitive analog circuitry. Rated for 500 mW continuous power dissipation, the part can handle steady-state bias currents up to about 3.3 mA at 150 V before the junction exceeds its thermal limit. The 1.25 kOhm maximum Zener impedance (Zzt) means the regulation voltage shifts less than 1.25 V per mA of load current — a reasonable figure for a 150 V device.
Wide temperature range and reverse leakage
Operating from -65°C to 175°C, the 1N6028C covers the full military temperature band. Reverse leakage is specified at 100 nA maximum at 114 V reverse bias — 76 % of the nominal Zener voltage — so the part does not load the circuit appreciably below the breakdown knee. Forward voltage is 1.1 V maximum at 200 mA forward current, typical for a silicon Zener diode in this voltage class.
Microchip Technology lists the 1N6028C as Active (current production).
