100 V Zener regulation in a DO-35 axial package
The 1N6024A is a 100 V Zener diode rated for 500 mW continuous power dissipation in the DO-35 through-hole package. The 100 V nominal breakdown voltage with ±10% tolerance means the regulation knee sits between 90 V and 110 V — tight enough for most rail-clamp and reference applications where a standard 5% or 10% Zener is specified. The reverse leakage is specified at 100 nA max when the applied voltage is 62 V, which is well below the breakdown region — useful for verifying the part is not degraded during incoming inspection.
Microchip Technology lists the 1N6024A as Active in its current product portfolio. Sourced through independent distribution channels against an RFQ.
DO-35 body — board-fit and handling
The DO-204AH (DO-35) axial-lead package is a standard through-hole form factor. The 0.020-inch diameter leads suit hand-insertion or wave-solder assembly. The body length is roughly 4.5 mm with a 1.8 mm diameter — the same footprint as the 1N4148 signal diode, so the board layout is interchangeable with common small-signal Zener and switching diodes in the same package. The 800 Ohm maximum Zener impedance (Zzt) at the test current means the dynamic resistance is moderate — the regulation sharpness is adequate for a 100 V rail clamp but not as tight as a low-voltage reference Zener.
