68 V regulation in a DO-35 body
The 1N6020B is a 68 V Zener diode in the standard DO-35 axial-lead package, rated for 500 mW continuous dissipation. The 68 V nominal breakdown with ±5% tolerance suits it for rail clamping, overvoltage protection, or as a shunt reference in a medium-voltage bias supply.
Reverse leakage and impedance — the bench numbers
Reverse leakage is specified at 100 nA max at 52 V reverse voltage — well under 1 µA, which matters when the Zener sits across a high-impedance node where leakage shifts the bias point. Maximum Zener impedance (Zzt) is 240 Ohms. In a shunt regulator configuration, the series resistor must be sized so the load current plus the Zener current keep the diode in its breakdown knee; a 240 Ohm dynamic impedance means the output voltage shifts about 240 mV per mA of load change. Forward voltage is 1.1 V max at 200 mA forward current — the same die can serve as a general-purpose rectifier in a pinch, though the 500 mW power limit restricts continuous forward current to about 450 mA.
