36 V regulation, ±2% — what it means for the BOM line
The 1N6013C is a 36 V Zener diode in a DO-35 axial-lead package, rated for 500 mW continuous dissipation. The ±2% tolerance holds the regulation voltage between 35.28 V and 36.72 V across the batch — tighter than the generic ±5% grade, so you don't have to over-design the shunt resistor to cover a wider voltage spread. Reverse leakage is 100 nA max at 27 V, which means it won't pull a bias rail down in a high-impedance divider. The 95 Ohm max Zzt impedance tells you the dynamic resistance at the test current — a higher Zzt shifts the regulation voltage more under load, so budget the load current against the 500 mW ceiling.
Through-hole DO-35 — board-fit and process
The DO-35 axial-lead package (DO-204AH) is a standard through-hole footprint that places cleanly and survives wave solder without tombstoning risk. No MSL rating applies — the glass-passivated junction is hermetic, so it doesn't need a bake before reflow or wave solder. Operating temperature spans -65 to +175 °C, covering military-temperature applications and high-reliability environments like avionics or downhole instrumentation where the board sees extreme ambient swings.
