Active production — 15 V zener with tight ±1% tolerance
The 1N6004D: Its 15 V nominal zener voltage with ±1% tolerance allows tighter regulation than the common ±5% grade — useful when the downstream load requires a stable reference or clamp voltage without over-designing the margin. Rated at 500 mW maximum power dissipation, the part handles continuous dissipation up to that level provided the ambient temperature and mounting conditions keep the junction within the -65°C to 175°C operating range.
DO-35 axial package — through-hole integration
Housed in a DO-204AH (DO-35) axial-lead package, the 1N6004D mounts through a 0.032-inch (0.81 mm) hole on a standard PCB or terminal strip — the same footprint as the 1N746 through 1N759 series, so existing layouts often accept it without a board spin. The 100 nA maximum reverse leakage at 11 V keeps standby current negligible in battery-backed reference circuits, while the 32 Ω maximum zener impedance means the regulation slope is shallow enough for most low-current shunt regulators.
