The 1N6001A is an 11 V Zener diode in the standard DO-35 axial package, rated for 500 mW continuous power dissipation. The 11 V nominal Zener voltage (Vz) with ±10% tolerance means the regulation point falls between 9.9 V and 12.1 V — adequate for general-purpose clamping, voltage reference, or shunt regulation where a precision bandgap is overkill. Maximum Zener impedance (Zzt) is 25 Ohms, which governs how tightly the diode holds its voltage as bias current varies. At the test current (typically 5–10 mA for this power class), the dynamic resistance is low enough for a stable reference; at lower bias the regulation softens.
Temperature range and leakage — military-grade operating envelope
The 100 nA maximum reverse leakage at 7 V reverse voltage (Vr) is specified at 25 °C; expect leakage to double roughly every 10 °C, so at 125 °C it reaches about 6.4 µA — still acceptable for most bias and protection circuits. Forward voltage (Vf) is 1.1 V maximum at 200 mA forward current — typical for a silicon Zener. This matters if the diode sees forward conduction in a clamping or polarity-protection role; the 1.1 V drop adds to the power dissipation budget.
