10 V regulation in a DO-35 body
The 1N6000A is a 10 V Zener diode rated for 500 mW continuous power dissipation in a DO-35 axial-lead package. The reverse leakage is specified at 500 nA maximum with 6.5 V applied across the junction — well below the 10 V breakdown knee, so standby power in a battery-powered clamp stays negligible.
Rework and board-fit reality
DO-35 axial diodes are about as rework-friendly as it gets. The glass body and tin-plated copper leads take a hot-air station or soldering iron without cracking, provided you keep the lead temperature below 260°C for more than 10 seconds. The body is small enough to fit into tight through-hole layouts, and the polarity band is moulded into the glass — no guessing which end is cathode. The axial leads let you stand the diode upright or lay it flat against the board. If you need to replace it on a populated board, clip the leads close to the body, then desolder the stubs one at a time — less risk of lifting the through-hole pad than pulling the whole part hot.
