Zener voltage and regulation tolerance
The 1N4734CP/TR8 is a 5.6 V Zener diode rated for 1 W continuous power dissipation in a DO-204AL (DO-41) axial leaded package. The ±2% tolerance on the Zener voltage means the regulation point sits between 5.488 V and 5.712 V at the test current — tight enough for a 5 V rail clamp or a reference in a low-cost shunt regulator without trimming.
Thermal and electrical limits
The 5 Ohm maximum Zener impedance (Zzt) at the test point keeps the voltage shift under a few hundred millivolts across the rated current range — relevant when the diode is used as a low-impedance reference rather than just a clamp. These numbers matter for low-power bias circuits where the diode sits across a rail and must not load it in the off state.
Package and rework
DO-41 axial leaded — the leads are thick enough to survive a couple of rework cycles with a soldering iron or hot-air station. Pin 1 is the cathode band; orientation is unambiguous on the board. The through-hole body handles the 1 W dissipation without a heatsink as long as the leads are soldered into a reasonable copper pad area.
