What the 6 A hold current means for your board
The 1206L600SLWR is a polymeric PTC resettable fuse from the POLY-FUSE® LoRho series, designed for overcurrent protection on low-voltage rails up to 6 V. Its 6 A hold current (Ih) is the continuous DC current the device carries without tripping at 25 °C ambient — below this threshold the 1 mOhm typical initial resistance keeps I²R losses under 36 mW, negligible for most power distribution. When the fault current exceeds the 12 A trip current (It), the polymer heats and transitions to a high-resistance state within 2 seconds (typical), limiting the current to tens of milliamps. After the fault clears and power is cycled, the device resets — no fuse replacement needed.
Package and footprint fit
Housed in a standard 1206 (3216 metric) concave package measuring 2.10 mm x 1.35 mm with a maximum seated height of 1.40 mm, this PTC mounts directly onto the PCB footprint used for chip resistors and ceramic capacitors of the same size. The concave termination profile aids solder fillet inspection on the bottom-side pads. Surface-mount assembly with Tape & Reel or Cut Tape packaging — the reel quantity suits automated pick-and-place for medium-to-high volume runs.
Approvals and compliance
Carries cURus and TUV agency approvals, covering North American and European safety requirements for overcurrent protection components. Operating temperature range is -40 °C to 85 °C, covering most indoor and outdoor equipment environments without derating.
