1.5 A hold, 8 V max — the overcurrent reset point
The Littelfuse 1206L150THWR-A is a polymeric PTC resettable fuse from the POLY-FUSE® 1206L series, rated for a 1.5 A hold current at 8 V maximum. When the fault current exceeds the trip threshold (It=3 A), the polymer heats and its resistance rises sharply, limiting the circuit current within 300 ms typical. The 100 A maximum fault current rating means it can interrupt short-circuit events up to that level without rupturing — a key parameter for automotive and industrial power rails where the prospective fault current can be high.
AEC-Q200 qualification — automotive-grade overcurrent protection
The 1206L150THWR-A carries AEC-Q200 qualification, the automotive passive-component stress-test standard. Approvals from cURus and TUV provide additional safety-agency acceptance for equipment sold into North American and European markets, covering the UL 1434 and IEC 60738-1 standards for polymeric PTCs.
Resistance window and board-fit note
Initial resistance (Ri) is 40 mOhms minimum; after a trip event the post-trip resistance (R1) rises to 120 mOhms maximum. This resistance shift is typical for polymeric PTCs — the trip resets the polymer but the crystalline structure does not fully recover, so the series resistance is permanently higher after the first fault.
