1.5 A hold, 8 V max — the parametric anchor
The 1206L150PR is a Littelfuse POLY-FUSE® series polymeric PTC resettable fuse rated for 1.5 A hold current at 8 V maximum. That 1.5 A figure is the continuous DC current the device passes without tripping at 25°C ambient. Once the load current reaches the 3 A trip threshold, the PTC element heats up, its resistance jumps from a 40 mOhm minimum initial resistance to a 120 mOhm maximum post-trip resistance, and the circuit opens in 300 ms typical.
Interrupt rating and package
The device can interrupt fault currents up to 100 A at the rated 8 V, which covers low-voltage rail protection in portable electronics, battery packs, and USB-powered peripherals. The hold current derates at elevated temperatures — at 85°C the 1.5 A rating drops to roughly 60% of the 25°C value, so the actual continuous current capability at the high end of the range is about 0.9 A.
Littelfuse lists the 1206L150PR as obsolete. No official successor order code is recorded in the lifecycle data.
