Clamping parameters and protection window
The 1.5SMC510CA: The 434V reverse standoff voltage defines the maximum DC or peak AC voltage the protected line can carry without the diode conducting — stay below this for normal operation. Breakdown occurs at 485V minimum, and the clamping voltage is held to 698V maximum at the 2.1A peak pulse current. This 213V window between standoff and clamp means the diode absorbs transients without clipping the nominal rail, but the clamp voltage is high enough that downstream components must be rated for at least 700V peak. Power line protection is marked 'No', so this part is intended for DC power or signal lines, not AC mains.
