The 1.5SMC480A: The SMC footprint is larger than the smaller SMA/SMB siblings, giving better heat sinking for the 1500 W pulse rating — the copper pad area under the cathode tab directly sets the thermal impedance during the transient. The device does not include power line protection circuitry — it is a standalone transient suppressor for signal or DC power rails.
