Protection window and clamping behaviour
The 1.5SMC16CA: The reverse standoff voltage is 13.6V, meaning the device does not conduct during normal operation; once the voltage exceeds the minimum breakdown of 15.2V, it begins to avalanche and clamp. The -55°C to 150°C operating range covers outdoor enclosures and under-hood automotive environments.
Supplied in DO-214AB (SMC) package, also designated as SMCJ footprint. The bidirectional channel means a single device protects both positive and negative transients on a signal or power rail — no need for two diodes in series. Available in Tape & Reel (TR) and Cut Tape (CT) options for reflow assembly.
Lifecycle and compliance posture
General-purpose application class; no power line protection feature (the device is intended for signal and low-power rail protection, not AC mains). RoHS and REACH compliance documentation is available from Littelfuse upon request.
