1500W peak pulse — the clamp that matters
The Littelfuse 1.5SMC120CA is a 1500W (1.5kW) bidirectional Zener TVS diode in the DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package. It protects a 102V nominal rail by clamping transients at 165V maximum, absorbing a 9.2A peak pulse current (10/1000µs waveform). The 114V minimum breakdown voltage means the device starts conducting before the protected circuitry sees damaging overvoltage, while the 165V clamp keeps the spike below the downstream component's absolute maximum rating.
A single bidirectional channel clamps transients of either polarity, which simplifies BOM consolidation on AC or bipolar DC rails where the signal swings through zero.
