Clamping voltage and peak current handling
The 1.5SMB30A: The reverse standoff voltage is 25.6 V, so the diode remains non-conductive under normal 24 V bus conditions. This clamping level is low enough to protect 30 V-rated silicon without exceeding its abs-max rating. The 1500 W rating at 10/1000 µs is the standard telecom surge waveform — a single strike at this energy level does not degrade the junction.
