68 µF, 10 V, 200 mOhm — the bulk decoupling fit
The KYOCERA AVX TPSY686M010R0200 is a molded tantalum capacitor in the TPS series, delivering 68 µF at 10 V rated voltage with a 200 mOhm ESR. The 200 mOhm ESR is the figure that governs ripple current handling and self-heating. At 100 kHz, the impedance is dominated by this ESR, so the capacitor's ability to absorb ripple current is directly limited by the I²R heating. For a 1 A ripple, the internal dissipation is 200 mW — within the package's thermal budget at 85°C ambient, but derating applies at the 125°C end of the operating range.
Case, footprint, and temperature grade
This matches the industry-standard D case footprint, so the PCB land pattern is interchangeable with other manufacturers' 2917 tantalum capacitors. Capacitance change over this range is typically +15% at -55°C and -10% at +125°C relative to the 25°C value — the 68 µF nominal holds within the ±20% tolerance band across the full temperature span. The ESR roughly doubles at -55°C and halves at +125°C, so the ripple current capability is lowest at cold start and highest at hot steady-state.
Active lifecycle — no end-of-life risk
The tape-and-reel packaging (Cut Tape and Tape & Reel options) supports both prototype and production volumes.
