Capacitance, voltage, and ESR – what drives the selection
The TPSV477K010R0100: 100 mOhm ESR at 100 kHz sets the self-heating floor – for a 470 µF tantalum this is a standard low-ESR grade, adequate for switching-regulator output filtering where the ripple current is a few hundred mA RMS. The ±10% tolerance is typical for tantalum electrolytics and gives enough margin for decoupling and energy storage without over-specifying the capacitance window.
Temperature range and case – deployment context
Rated -55°C to 125°C, this capacitor operates across the full industrial and military temperature envelope – the molded case keeps the dielectric stable through thermal cycling without the moisture ingress risk of uncoated chips.
