4.7 µF, 6.3 V, 4 Ohm ESR — TPS series molded tantalum
The TPSS475M006R4000: The 4 Ohm ESR is the key parameter for power-supply decoupling — it sets the ripple current capability and the self-heating under AC load. This is a general-purpose part in the TPS series, which is KYOCERA AVX's standard low-ESR tantalum range for surface-mount designs. The 1206 (3216 Metric) footprint and 1.20 mm seated height fit dense PCB layouts where bulk capacitance is needed near processors or POL regulators.
Temperature range and operating environment
The molded case and surface-mount package suit reflow soldering — no conformal coating issues on the component body. At 125°C, the voltage derating recommendation increases — running a 6.3 V part below 4 V at the high end of the range keeps the failure rate within the FITS target for long-life equipment.
