What the 1 Ohm ESR means for your rail
The TPSR106M006R1000: The 1 Ohm ESR is the number that governs ripple current handling — at 100 kHz, a 100 mA ripple dissipates 10 mW, well within the part's rating, but a 500 mA ripple pushes dissipation to 250 mW, which raises internal temperature and accelerates wear.
Temperature range and derating
Tantalum capacitors require voltage derating above 85°C — at 125°C, apply no more than 50% of the rated 6.3 V, so 3.15 V maximum. The ±20% tolerance means a 10 µF part can measure anywhere from 8 µF to 12 µF at 25°C; capacitance drops further at low temperature, so budget for 7 µF effective at -55°C.
