The TPSE687K004R0100 is an active-production molded tantalum capacitor from the TPS series, rated 680 µF at 4 V with ±10% tolerance. The 100 mOhm ESR keeps ripple heating manageable in power rail decoupling or energy-hold-up roles.
Temperature range and operating environment
The 100 mOhm ESR at 100 kHz is the figure that governs ripple current capability — a lower ESR means less self-heating and higher allowable AC ripple for a given temperature rise. For a 4 V rail, the derating margin (typically 80 % of rated voltage for tantalum) should be factored into the design.
