What the 35 mOhm ESR means for your circuit

This ESR also sets the ripple-current rating. A rough bench rule: at 85°C ambient, a 35 mOhm part in still air can handle about 1.5 A RMS before the internal temperature rise hits 10°C. For higher ripple, derate the voltage or add forced airflow — the datasheet's ripple-current curve is the final word. The ±10% tolerance is standard for tantalum electrolytics.
