Bulk capacitance for low-voltage rails
The TPSE227K006R0100: The 100 mOhm ESR keeps ripple heating manageable on a 6.3 V rail — at 1 A ripple current the self-heating stays under 5°C, which matters when the cap shares a board with a regulator or processor. The ±10% tolerance is the standard bin for bulk tantalum applications — the actual capacitance at the nominal voltage and temperature will sit within that band, so the decoupling network's pole frequency stays predictable.
Temperature range and environment
Rated for -55°C to 125°C, this cap covers the full industrial temperature envelope and the upper end of automotive under-hood ambient. The 125°C ceiling is the absolute limit — above that the tantalum dielectric leakage accelerates and the ESR rises, so the design should stay below 105°C for long-term reliability. The molded case (Type Molded) provides mechanical protection and moisture resistance for surface-mount assembly.
Active lifecycle and sourcing
The TPS series is a mainstream low-ESR tantalum line, so production continuity is expected for the foreseeable future. No pin-compatible direct replacement exists from other manufacturers — the 2917 E-case footprint is standard, but the 100 mOhm ESR target is specific to this TPS variant.
