Capacitance, voltage, and ESR — what they mean for the rail
The TPSD685M050R0300 is a 6.8 µF tantalum capacitor rated at 50 V, housed in the standard 2917 (7343 Metric) molded case. The 300 mOhm ESR is the key figure for ripple handling: at the switching frequency of a downstream buck converter, this ESR sets the self-heating and the output ripple voltage. A lower ESR means less temperature rise and cleaner DC for the load. This part belongs to the TPS series, which is a general-purpose molded tantalum line from KYOCERA AVX.
Temperature range and board-fit
Surface-mount assembly with Tape & Reel packaging means it feeds into pick-and-place lines directly. The molded case provides mechanical robustness against board flex during rework.
