The TPSD475M035R0700: That 35 V rating gives comfortable margin on 12 V, 24 V, and even 28 V rails — the 1.43× derating factor on a 24 V line keeps it inside the 50% voltage-derating rule of thumb for solid tantalums, so you are not gambling on surge breakdown. The 700 mOhm ESR is the number that matters for ripple current: at 100 kHz, that ESR limits self-heating. For a 500 mA ripple, dissipation is about 175 mW — well within the case's thermal budget at 85°C ambient, but at 125°C you will want to check the derating curve because the ESR rises with temperature and the allowable power drops.
Molded case, wide temperature range
The molded case is the standard epoxy encapsulation for surface-mount tantalums — no conformal-coating compatibility issues, and the package marking is legible enough for a field swap if you have the right tweezers and a steady hand. The -55°C to +125°C operating range covers automotive under-hood and industrial outdoor enclosures without a second temperature-grade BOM line. That is the same land pattern as the AVX TPS series D case, so it drops into any existing 2917 pad layout without a board spin. ±20% tolerance is standard for tantalum electrolytics; if your filter pole or timing circuit needs tighter than 20 %, you will want to cherry-pick or move to a film or MLCC alternative.
