Bulk capacitance for 35 V rails — 4.7 µF in a D case
The TPSD475K035T0700V: It belongs to the TPS series and comes in the standard 2917 (7343 Metric) D case size. The 700 mOhm ESR sets the ripple-current ceiling: at 35 V, the self-heating from ripple current limits the part's filtering capability in DC-link or output-bulk positions. For a given ripple current I, the power dissipated is I² × 0.7 Ω; keep the surface temperature below 125°C to stay within the 2000-hour endurance rating. Operating from -55°C up to 125°C, this cap covers the full industrial temperature band. The 2000-hour lifetime at 125°C is the derating anchor — at lower ambient temperatures the life extends significantly per the Arrhenius model typical for MnO₂ tantalum.

Footprint and board integration — D case (2917)
The molded package is a surface-mount tantalum, not a conformal-coated style — the epoxy case provides mechanical protection and standard reflow solderability. Land pattern follows the 2917 (7343 Metric) footprint typical for D-case tantalums. The anode (+) end is marked by a polarity stripe; reverse voltage beyond 1 V at rated temperature can cause catastrophic failure, so orientation must be verified in layout and at pick-and-place.
