33 µF at 20 V — the core selection parameters
The TPSD336K020R0100: The ±10% tolerance is standard for MnO2 tantalum and tight enough for most filtering and energy-storage roles — the actual capacitance at rated voltage will sit near the nominal value, not at the low end of the bin. The 100 mOhm ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) is the limiting factor for ripple current and self-heating. At 100 kHz, the impedance is dominated by this ESR, not the capacitive reactance — so the part's ability to absorb ripple current is directly set by the I²R heating budget. For a 33 µF cap, 100 mOhm is a middle-of-range ESR; lower ESR parts exist in the TPS family but trade off higher leakage or larger case size.
Temperature range and case — deployment fit
The -55°C to +125°C operating range covers industrial and automotive ambient conditions without derating at the high end — the MnO2 tantalum chemistry is stable across this band, though leakage current rises with temperature. The surface-mount package suits reflow soldering; the TPS series is RoHS-compliant and compatible with standard lead-free profiles.
