The TPSD335K050R0800: The 800 mOhm ESR means the self-heating at ripple current is predictable — for a given ripple current, the I²R loss is lower than a higher-ESR part, so the capacitor runs cooler on a 50 V rail where ripple can be significant.
ESR and temperature range for field fit
The 800 mOhm ESR is the figure to check against the ripple current in the circuit; at 125°C the derating curve for tantalum caps typically reduces the allowable ripple, so the ESR governs the thermal margin at high temperature. Molded case construction protects the tantalum element from mechanical stress during pick-and-place and in service — no conformal coating needed on the cap body itself, but the board-level underfill decision depends on the adjacent components.
