The 200 mOhm ESR is the number that matters most for bulk decoupling — it sets the ripple current handling and the self-heating under load. A 2917 (7343 Metric) case means it drops onto the same footprint as any standard D-size tantalum, so a BOM swap is a direct layout match if the height clearance is there.
The molded case is general-purpose — no low-ESR or high-reliability screening, so for avionics or defence you'd want the MIL-spec variant from the same series.
Lifecycle — active and orderable
The TPS series is a long-running line, so date-code continuity and multi-source availability are typical.
