125 mOhm ESR — the ripple current ceiling
The TPSD107M010R0125: This TPS series molded tantalum is rated 100 µF at 10 V with a 125 mOhm ESR. For a DC-DC output filter, the ESR sets the ripple voltage amplitude and the maximum ripple current the cap can sustain before self-heating becomes the limiting factor — not the capacitance. The 125 mOhm ESR figure is the number to use in the ripple current derating calculation at the switching frequency.
Use it in avionics power supplies, satellite bus filters, and downhole instrumentation.
