375 mOhm ESR and bulk decoupling fit
The TPSC336M010R0375: The 375 mOhm ESR is the dominant spec for this 33 µF tantalum — it determines the ripple voltage on a DC-DC output and the self-heating under ripple current. For a 100 kHz buck converter with 500 mA ripple, the ESR contributes roughly 190 mV of output ripple, which is acceptable for a 3.3 V rail but tight for a 1.2 V core supply. The TPS series is rated General Purpose, so it is not a low-ESR automotive or high-reliability grade — budget the ripple accordingly.
The molded case in a 2312 (6032 Metric) footprint handles the thermal expansion across that range without cracking the dielectric — a known failure mode in conformal-coated tantalums under thermal cycling.
