150 mOhm ESR is the figure that sets self-heating under AC ripple. In a buck-converter output stage, the ripple current heats the capacitor; the 150 mOhm spec means the part can handle moderate ripple without exceeding its internal temperature rise — a lower-ESR part would be needed for high-frequency, high-ripple designs.
