Molded tantalum for tight temperature spans
The TPSB685M016R0600 is a molded tantalum capacitor from the KYOCERA AVX TPS series, rated 6.8 µF at 16 V with ±20% tolerance. Its 600 mOhm ESR is a practical middle ground — low enough for decent ripple filtering in a buck converter output, but not so low that inrush current becomes a board-level concern at power-up. A 16 V rating on a 12 V rail gives 33% derating margin, which is standard practice for tantalum reliability in power applications.
The molded case (1411 / 3528 Metric, size code B) is a common footprint for low-profile surface-mount assembly.
