Capacitance and voltage rating — the BOM-fit check
The TPSB474M035R4000: 0.47 µF capacitance at 35 V rated voltage — this is the primary spec for any decoupling, filtering, or timing application. The ±20% tolerance means the actual value can vary; a tight-tolerance circuit may need a different dielectric or a higher-grade part.
ESR and temperature — what they cost you
4 ohm ESR is on the high side for a 0.47 µF tantalum — it limits ripple current handling and increases self-heating under AC load. For a power-supply output filter, the voltage ripple across the ESR at a given ripple current is higher than with a lower-ESR capacitor.
Package and footprint — board integration
Molded case in 1411 (3528 Metric) footprint, size code B — 3.50 mm x 2.80 mm, seated height 2.10 mm max. The small footprint suits dense layouts, but the 4 ohm ESR means the capacitor should be placed close to the load to minimise trace inductance that would worsen high-frequency decoupling.
