The molded case and standard tantalum construction mean it survives the thermal cycling of a reflow oven without cracking — a common failure mode in uncoated ceramic caps.
The TPS series is a broad tantalum line — the B-case footprint (3.50 x 2.80 mm) is shared across multiple capacitance values, so a last-minute value change doesn't force a board spin.
