Bulk capacitance for low-voltage rails
The 18 mOhm ESR keeps ripple current heating under control; at 1500 µF, the self-resonant frequency sits well above the switching frequencies of most POL converters, so the capacitor behaves as a pure capacitance across the regulator's control bandwidth.
Standard commercial tantalums (-55°C to 85°C) would derate above 85°C; this part does not.
Housed in a 2917 (7343 Metric) case with manufacturer size code E, the footprint is 7.30 mm x 4.30 mm with a seated height of 4.30 mm. This is a standard tantalum case size — the same footprint used by AVX TPS, Kemet T491, and Vishay 597D series, so a PCB already laid out for an E-case tantalum accepts this part without a board spin.
