55 mOhm ESR on a 47 µF 25 V tantalum — what it buys
The TPMD476K025R0055: The 55 mOhm ESR on this 47 µF, 25 V molded tantalum means ripple current handling is well above generic tantalum caps in the same case size. For a 25 V rail that sees 500 mA ripple, the I²R loss stays under 14 mW — negligible thermal stress inside the 2917 package. That ESR floor also keeps the voltage ripple within a few millivolts at typical switching regulator frequencies, which is why this part lands in output filter stages where low output noise matters.
The molded construction and the TPM series are general purpose, not automotive-qualified, so for under-hood or chassis-domain applications that require AEC-Q200, a different series would be needed.
