Molded case and temperature range — fit for harsh environments
The TAJY106K035RNJ: That full military temperature band means it can sit in an engine bay ECU, a downhole tool, or a satellite power bus without the derating curve eating into the 35 V headroom.
10 µF at 35 V — bulk decoupling on a 24 V rail
10 µF capacitance with a 35 V rating gives comfortable margin on a 24 V nominal supply — important for automotive load-dump transients that can spike above 30 V. The ±10% tolerance keeps the minimum capacitance above 9 µF, enough for most bulk decoupling jobs on a 24 V bus.
ESR and ripple current — thermal planning matters
1 ohm ESR is typical for a 10 µF tantalum in this case size. At 100 kHz, the self-heating limits ripple current to roughly 350 mA RMS before the internal temperature rise exceeds 10°C. If your switching regulator pulls more ripple than that, you'll need to parallel two parts or step up to a lower-ESR polymer tantalum.
