What this tantalum is for — bulk decoupling at 35 V
It is a general-purpose surface-mount part in the 2924 (7361 Metric) case — the V size code. The 35 V rating puts it on 24 V rails with margin; the 500 mOhm ESR means it handles moderate ripple current without overheating, but it is not a low-ESR part for high-frequency switching regulator outputs. The molded package is the standard epoxy case — no conformal coat, no hermetically sealed military version.
At 125°C the leakage current rises and the derating factor should be applied — typically 50% voltage derating above 85°C. This part works in avionics, downhole instrumentation, and satellite power supplies where the ambient hits extremes. The 35 V rating at 125°C means the applied voltage should stay under 17.5 V for reliable operation in that environment.
