The TAJV476K035RNJ: At 47 µF and 35 V rated, this TAJ-series molded tantalum holds enough energy to smooth a 12 V power bus through load transients while staying well below the voltage derating rule of thumb (50% margin on solid tantalums). The 400 mOhm ESR limits the ripple current self-heating — for a 100 kHz switching regulator output, the ripple current rating is roughly 0.6 A RMS before the internal temperature rise exceeds 10°C. That ESR also sets the output voltage ripple: at 100 kHz with a 0.5 A ripple current, expect about 200 mV pk-pk across the capacitor alone.
The capacitance change with temperature is approximately +15% at -55°C and -10% at 125°C relative to the 25°C value — a consideration for timing or filter circuits that must hold tolerance across the full swing.
Active production — no end-of-life watch
No pin-compatible second source or successor is documented; the TAJ series covers a wide capacitance-voltage matrix, so a cross within the same series is possible if the BOM tolerance allows a different case size or ESR grade.
