5 Ohm ESR and the decoupling budget
The 5 Ohm ESR is the dominant contributor to ripple voltage and internal heating at the ripple current frequency. For a 1 µF cap on a 16 V rail, the ESR limits the RMS ripple current to roughly 100 mA before self-heating pushes the core temperature above the 125°C ceiling. In practice, this part works best as a local decoupling cap on low-power analog or logic rails where the ripple current stays under 50 mA; for higher-ripple bulk storage, a lower-ESR tantalum or polymer cap is a better fit.
It is a current-production part with no announced EOL or NRND notice.
