6.8 µF, 16 V, 2.4 Ohm ESR — bulk decoupling in a 1206 footprint
The TAJS685K016RNJ: This is a 6.8 µF molded tantalum capacitor rated at 16 V with a 2.4 Ohm ESR, in a 1206 (3216 Metric) surface-mount package. The ±10% tolerance keeps the capacitance within a tight window for filter poles or timing constants. The 2.4 Ohm ESR limits ripple heating in power-supply decoupling — at 100 kHz ripple current, the self-heating stays manageable, but a lower-ESR part would run cooler in a high-ripple rail.
Active production — no end-of-life watch
This cap holds its spec through thermal cycling in outdoor telecom cabinets, engine-bay electronics, or downhole instrumentation. The 1206 body (3.20 mm x 1.60 mm x 1.20 mm seated height) reflows easily with standard lead-free profiles; the molded case gives a clear polarity band, so you won't flip it under the hot-air station.
