Molded tantalum cap with a wide temperature range
TAJS335K010RNJ is a molded tantalum capacitor from the TAJ series, rated 3.3 µF at 10 V with ±10% tolerance. For a 5 V rail, the 10 V rating leaves only 2× derating margin; a 6.3 V rail would push it over the 50 % rule, so confirm the applied voltage before committing the BOM line.
ESR and ripple current — what the 8 Ohm means
Equivalent series resistance is 8 Ohm — high by modern low-ESR tantalum standards. In a power rail decoupling role, that ESR limits the ripple current the cap can handle before self-heating becomes a concern. For a 100 kHz buck converter output, the ripple current at 50 mV ripple is roughly 6 mA RMS; the cap can take that, but a bank of parallel caps would share the thermal load better.
The TAJ series is a long-running KYOCERA AVX line with broad second-source coverage from Kemet and Vishay in the same 1206 case and voltage rating.
