Molded tantalum for tight board spaces
At 0.22 µF and 35 V rated voltage, it fits decoupling and filtering roles on 12 V or 24 V rails where tantalum's stable capacitance over temperature is preferred over MLCC's DC bias roll-off.
Temperature range and derating for reliability
Tantalum capacitors require voltage derating: for 35 V rating, a 50% derating (17.5 V max applied) is standard practice to avoid field failures from surge current. The 21 Ohm ESR limits ripple current handling — at 100 kHz, the capacitor self-heats under ripple. For a 0.22 µF part in a high-frequency decoupling role, the ESR is secondary to the capacitance stability; in a power-supply output filter, the ripple current budget must be checked against the thermal derating curve.
