Molded tantalum in an 0805 footprint
The 1 µF capacitance at 25 V rating covers common decoupling and RC timing jobs on 12 V or 5 V rails, but the 8 Ohm ESR at 100 kHz is a key constraint — it limits ripple current handling and generates self-heating that eats into the 125°C temperature ceiling.
For existing designs, this means the BOM line remains stable through normal procurement cycles; for new designs, the part is available for qualification without a looming obsolescence risk.
ESR and temperature — the bench reality
In a power-supply decoupling role, this ESR will cause voltage ripple at the load and heat the part under AC current.
