1 µF, 20 V — molded tantalum in 0805
The TAJR105K020HNJ: This is a KYOCERA AVX TAJ series molded tantalum capacitor, 1 µF ±10% at 20 V, in an 0805 (2012 metric) surface-mount case. The 20 V rating gives comfortable headroom on a 12 V rail or a 5 V bus — you can run it at 80 % derating without pushing the voltage stress above the recommended limit for tantalum.
For a decoupling cap on a 100 kHz switching regulator input, that ESR limits the ripple current to roughly 100 mA RMS before the internal temperature rise becomes significant. If your rail needs to handle more ripple, you'll want a larger case size or a polymer tantalum with lower ESR.
The molded case handles the thermal cycling without cracking the dielectric — a common failure mode in conformally-coated tantalums subjected to rapid temperature swings.
